Flames and smoke covered the french capital and left Parisians and tourist looked on aghast.
The blaze collapsed the cathedral’s spire and spread to one of its rectangular towers. According to Paris fire chief, Jean-Claude Gallet says the church’s structure has been saved after firefighters managed to stop the fire spreading to the northern belfry.
The exact cause of the blaze is under investigation. Only one of the 400 firefighters who battled the blaze was injured.
