More than 300 people came out to an event called “Dash and Splash” to run a 5k in support of the Special Olympics. Some came to show off their costumes, others came to run a 5k and participate in the polar plunge that is jumping into the icy cold waters of San Francisco.
All in all, everyone came to support the Northern California Special Olympics. United Airlines and the San Francisco Police Department joined forces with the Special Olympics to raise money for athletes, inclusive school programs, and vital health screens.
All participants were invited to partake in the Pre-Splash-Bash featuring breakfast burritos, wine, and beer, before moving onto the costume contest. Which would be judged by the nuns of Perpetual Indulgence.
Dash and Splash is not exclusive to California, and there will be 15 Polar Plunges in total this year.
If you are interested in taking plunge for a good cause, you can join the Special Olympics in South Lake Tahoe on March 30th. It is expected to be a three day party!
